Pipes and Pipe Supports

Variable Effort Supports are used to support the weight of pipe work or equipment whilst allowing a degree of movement relative to the supporting structure. Where pipes transport hot or cold liquids or gases they expand or contract due to the difference between operating and ambient temperatures. Constant Effort Supports are used to support pipe work with an essentially constant supporting effort during what may large vertical movement.

Dirlik Controls developed a hardware and software package, which is used in production and testing of Variable and Constant Effort Supports. The ram moves to minimum, maximum and operating loads, allows the operator to mark the load indicators on the supports. For each support a load versus deflection plot is produced.
